UNESCO's Vision

Preserving Linguistic Rights & Diversity

Established by UNESCO in 1999, **International Mother Language Day** (February 21) commemorates the sacrifice of language martyrs and celebrates the richness of the world's 7,000+ languages.

In Tokyo 2026, we focus on the synergy between heritage and technology—how AI can help solve global issues while keeping human culture at the heart of the loop.

  • Promoting Mother-tongue Based Education
  • Multilingualism for Sustainable Development
